What is CompliChef?
CompliChef is a complete digital compliance ecosystem built for UK food businesses. From small independent cafés to multi-site restaurant groups, CompliChef replaces paper-based food safety logs with a fast, EHO-ready platform that keeps kitchens compliant, staff managed, and audits painless.
It's a fully bespoke SaaS product — no WordPress, no page builders, no third-party CMS. Every line of code was written from scratch.
The Ecosystem
CompliChef is made up of three tightly integrated portals:

The core compliance engine. KitchenPortal gives kitchen teams a digital replacement for paper food safety management — covering everything EHOs expect to see:

The Challenge
Food businesses in the UK operate under some of the strictest hygiene regulations in the world — yet most still rely on paper logbooks, ring binders, and clipboards. The result is lost records, failed inspections, and unnecessary stress.
CompliChef was built to solve exactly that: replace the clipboard with a cloud platform that costs less per month than a box of printed forms.
Tech Stack
CompliChef runs on a fully bespoke PHP platform with zero external framework dependencies. The architecture mirrors the localwebscoder CMS philosophy — flat-file where possible, SQL for relational compliance data, and a custom front-controller routing system.
- Backend: PHP 8.x, PDO / MySQL, custom MVC-style routing
- Frontend: Vanilla JS, custom CSS design system
- CMS: Bespoke flat-file blog and content engine
- Auth: Session-based with bcrypt, brute-force protection
- Security: SQLi / XSS detection layer, IP banning, CSRF tokens
- Hosting: UK-based VPS, nginx
